Impacting people life in Business,
Sport, Schools and Communities
Karate has been a wonderful experience. I started when I was 7 years old and my dad just wanted to teach my sister and I some basic skills so we could protect ourselves in the real world.
We started in the basement and would practice in the pool or outside but here I am now going to competitions at national level and and got 2nd Place in Team Kata female at 10-12 years old and 3rd Place Individual Kata at 13-14 year old female in the country as well as competing in Kata with my sister and dad as family.
Yes It took a lot of work to get up there and it will take more to stay but I never imagined being in this position. I never imagined karate was gonna be my thing because I’m a girl. Karate has been a journey that I decided to take not knowing what was ahead of me. This journey consisted of joy and happiness but learning to manage negative thinking specially when things does not workout at tournaments as expected. Karate has helped me improve all my skills as I kept growing. It has improved on how to manage my emotions.
If you are used to winning but then one day you don’t, this can lead to sadness. But I have learned to take the anger, sadness and frustration to motivate me to practice more to do my best to win next time or improve in what I did wrong. And because of the journey that I decided to take I am here now. Karate will make you stronger, not only physically but mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
